Our aim is to prepare our students for the demands of a changing, technologically advanced world. We help them to be active citizens who care about the society to which they belong and to become involved in community and charity projects on a local, national and international level.

Student attainment has consistently improved over the last three years and we continually strive to provide outstanding education which matches the very best that is offered nationally. Our above national average results at A level demonstrate that children who come to the school are expected to challenge themselves to produce the best, preparing them for success in whatever career or course of study they aspire to pursue - including study at an Oxbridge university.

The school is about enabling young people to flourish and learn through their mistakes in a safe and secure yet healthily competitive environment, working as a community to ensure success and real choices for all.

Working for Us

EDUCATION SOUTH WEST

By working together the schools within ESW benefit from:-

  • a support network of like-minded colleagues who believe in taking responsibility for the outcomes of children from age 0 to 19 within the Trust;
  •  opportunities to share good practices and CPD opportunities;
  •  students who will be supported because of the closer working relationships between primary and secondary schools regardless of where a child attends a school;
  •  staff who benefit from the increased opportunities to share best practice at a primary and secondary level and across phases.

 These opportunities also provide an incentive to new staff to join one of the academies within the Trust. There are opportunities for the sharing of staff both within and across phases.

 Pension Scheme

As a contracted member of staff you will be automatically enrolled into either the Teachers’ Pension Scheme or the Local Government Pension Scheme (whichever is appropriate).  Further details can be found on the following websites:

 -       Teachers’ Pensions(TPS)

 -       Peninsula Pensions (LGPS)

 Car Parking

Free car parking is available on the school premises. Spaces are on a ‘first come first served’ basis. There are also secure bike shed where colleagues and students can leave bikes and equipment.

 Catering Facilities - Canteign

Our catering is provided by ESW Catering Service.  Tasty and reasonably priced food is served in our Canteign for breakfast, break and lunch.  The meals are home-cooked, and where possible use produce from the school farm – Abbrook Farm.  In addition, drinks and snacks are available from the Snack Shack and the Sixth Form Common Room, with free tea and coffee for staff throughout the day in the Staffroom.

 Childcare Vouchers

We participate in the childcare voucher scheme, which provides tax benefits to working parents.

 Bike Scheme

Staff can save between 32% and 43% on the cost of a bike and cycling safety accessories under HMRC regulations.

 Eye Tests

Periodic eye examinations for frequent users of Display Screen Equipment are available.  We provide assistance in the purchase of glasses if they are deemed necessary.
